Travel Nursing Job Details

Position: Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Charlotte, NC 28204 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
Unit: Labor & Delivery (Delivery Room)
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks)
Orientation: 24 hours
Scrubs: Provided (Blue)
Float Requirement: May float to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit or affiliate hospitals
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1690 - $1810

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (3 years preferred for high-volume units)
Active North Carolina or Compact RN license (required at start)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
AWHONN Intermediate certification required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
Proficient in circulating for C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
Ability to float to related maternity and high-risk OB units
First-time travel nurses accepted (must have large/high-volume hospital experience)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

Deliver expert nursing care to obstetrical patients (16+ weeks gestation) for intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum needs
Perform triage, outpatient procedures, and antenatal fetal surveillance
Assist with scheduled and emergency Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage
Circulate in the OR for C-sections and related procedures
Conduct sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care
Float to high-risk maternity units and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Precept and orient new nursing staff as needed
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic and follow SBAR communication protocols
Comply with isolation precautions, PPE, and pain management protocols
