ER RN Job Details

• Location: Abilene, Texas 79606 (Texas nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/10/2025 – End: 2/9/2026)
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1700-$1820
• Unit: Emergency Department (26 beds, 22 rooms, daily census ~70)
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Travel Requirement: Must reside 150+ miles from facility (travel nursing job)
• Orientation: 16 hours, with required modules completed during orientation

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state; must have license in hand at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Proficiency with Allscripts charting system required; Altera experience preferred
• Ability to manage a 4:1 patient ratio in a fast-paced ER setting
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance

ER RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency care to patients of all ages in a busy Emergency Department
• Perform triage, assessment, and emergency interventions for a wide range of diagnoses
• Administer blood products and emergency medications as needed
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction, and failure
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG results
• Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy procedures
• Implement isolation precautions and manage ventilators
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, etc.)
• Accurately document patient care using Allscripts electronic health records
