Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Illinois RN license (Registered Nurse)
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience
Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based nursing care to CVICU patients using nursing process, protocols, and procedures
Assess patient status through interviews, observation, and physical assessment
Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Monitor and document patient progress, modifying care plans as needed
Demonstrate technical proficiency with CVICU equipment and troubleshoot issues
Promote patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment and bedside lab testing
Educate patients and families, adapting teaching strategies to individual needs
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and unit-based projects
Advocate for patients and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
