Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (ME6 Medical – Inpatient)
• Start Date: October 20, 2025
• End Date: March 9, 2026
• Duration: 16-20 weeks (13-week contracts accepted)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (overtime paid after 48 hours for 48-hour contracts)
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1950 - $2000
• Patient Ratios: Target 1:4, may be up to 1:5-6
• Orientation: 24 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state; compact nursing licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Experience with stable chronic ventilators
• IV start skills preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to other hospital units or campuses as needed
• Availability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients, including those with complex conditions such as COPD, CHF, AKI/CRF, DKA, and GI bleeds
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips, ventilators, and telemetry equipment
• Perform and interpret EKGs, arterial blood gases, and manage dysrhythmias
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central and peripheral lines, and administer blood products
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float to other units or campuses as assigned, supporting patient care across the organization
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EHR
• Participate in orientation and complete all required modules and assessments
