Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in an acute care setting, requiring a NM or compact license and 3 years of MS-Tele experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 26-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital
• Cares for medical, surgical, and progressive care (PCU) patients depending on competency
• Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5
• Occasional titration of drips including insulin, amiodarone, and levofed
• Required to read and interpret telemetry using Mindray cardiac monitors
• Use of CPSI EMR system
• Shift schedule is 12-hour days (7-7) with every other weekend required
• No on-call or floating requirements for nurses
• Navy blue scrubs required as dress code
• Nurses responsible for performing AccuChecks and managing respiratory equipment, including continuous BiPAP/CPAP
• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
• Completion of facility onboarding modules (approximately 20 hours) is required prior to starting on the floor
• Support staff includes nurse aides (1:8 ratio) and respiratory therapists available 24/7
• Travelers are not typically assigned to charge nurse duties
• Holiday coverage participation may be required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of recent med/surg and telemetry nursing experience
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry is required
• Experience with PCU/Stepdown preferred but not mandatory
