Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong EKG skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a short-term acute care hospital on a Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit
• Day shift position with 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on the unit
• Position is located in a Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Must float within scope or between similar units as needed
• Every other weekend is required
• Unit uses Epic for charting and Epic experience is required
• Royal blue and white scrubs are required
• On-call is not required
• Applicants must live at least 50 miles from the main campus
• Role involves monitoring patients on telemetry and managing a diverse Med/Surg caseload
• Modules must be completed pre-start and are unpaid, typically 4-10 hours
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Return staff must be gone for 1 year to return as travelers
• Candidates may only extend once per contract; a 6-month gap is required after two contracts before returning
• Holiday time off is restricted to approval of only one holiday and up to 4 total days off, as per manager's discretion

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required at the time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Must pass an EKG exam with no exceptions
• Epic charting experience required
• Travelers who have previously been staff at the facility must have been gone for at least 1 year
