Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with a current CA license and strong orthopedic skills for day shift assignments with flexible floating requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical and Orthopedics department of a hospital setting
• Day shift, 3x12 hour schedule from 7:00 to 19:30
• Weekend shifts required every other week
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to other units within scope of practice or to Hawthorne or Herrick campuses as needed
• A shuttle is provided if floating to other campuses
• Epic charting experience is preferred
• Responsible for comprehensive nursing care management from admission to discharge
• Coordinates care with physicians, patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Performs patient assessments, develops individualized care plans, and evaluates care effectiveness
• Serves as patient advocate, facilitates rounds and care conferences, and ensures safety and comfort
• Delegates tasks and provides supervision or mentoring for other care partners and new staff
• Modules and orientation will be completed electronically during onboarding; module time varies by specialty
• Only one holiday day off will be approved per assignment

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification from AHA is required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Must provide copy of certifications at time of consideration
• Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of signing
• Return staff must have been gone one year to return as a traveler
• Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Locals are accepted at a different rate
