Job Description

The Acute Stroke Unit (7800) specializes in the care of acute stroke patients and other neurological disorders while also providing care for acute medical patients. The unit maintains an adjustable acuity delivery care model focused on evidence-based practices to optimize stroke care.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio in MedSurg.
• Administer IV therapy and manage peripheral lines.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies, including dysrhythmias.
• Utilize respiratory support including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
• Ensure adherence to isolation precautions and conduct wound care as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active New York State nursing license.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system is essential.
• Certifications in IV therapy and phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response preferred.
