Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring TX or compact licensure and strong ortho trauma skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a short-term acute care hospital on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Care for adult patients including post-operative orthopedic trauma cases
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Floating between units and to sister facilities may be required
• No on-call responsibility
• Weekends are required as needed
• Use of the Epic EMR system is required
• Required to complete pre-employment modules prior to start
• Team members must wear solid navy blue scrubs as part of the dress code
• Travelers are expected to float as needed and should be flexible with assignments
• Must commit to working 3 out of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Minimal to no requested time off is preferred and must be disclosed up front
• Free parking available in designated employee/visitor lots

Requirements

• Active TX or compact state RN license in hand
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Experience with ortho trauma care, post-operative management, blood administration, and wound vac management
• Current BLS certification required
• Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Former permanent staff must wait 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel status
