Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical - Inpatient Rehabilitation

Location

This position is located in a facility that specializes in acute inpatient rehabilitation for patients with various rehabilitation needs, including those recovering from stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

The schedule for this position includes 3x12-hour night shifts from 19:00 to 07:00, with every third weekend coverage required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in this role will provide specialized care to patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Responsibilities will include the management of complex patient needs, administration of medications, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide direct care for patients with neurological diagnoses including CVA, TBI, ABI, and spinal cord injuries.
• Administer IV therapy, including the starting and maintaining of IVs as well as blood and blood product management.
• Perform vital assessments and monitor patient conditions.
• Implement and manage individualized care plans and rehabilitation protocols.
• Educate patients and families on health management and rehabilitation progress.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including respiratory services and pharmacy for comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in patient teaching and discharge planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care rehabilitation setting.
• BLS certification is required.
• Familiarity with Epic charting system preferred.
• Experience with trauma level II care is preferred.
• Must be able to float between facilities as needed.
