Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a NM or compact RN license, with BLS, NRP, and AWHONN fetal monitoring certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Family Birthing Center
• Labor & Delivery unit with antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient care
• Care for mothers and newborns, including high-risk pregnancies and newborn stabilization
• 12-hour day shifts (07:00-19:00), three days per week
• Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Use of Epic EMR system; on-site training available
• Responsibilities include triage of obstetric patients, labor assessment, fetal monitoring, medication administration, immediate newborn stabilization, and postpartum care
• Must be able to assist with newborn screenings, medication administration, IV starts, and stabilization of critically ill newborns
• No local candidates accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must wait one year after permanent employment at this health system to be reconsidered as a traveler
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Orientation includes required testing and initial training

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Minimum two years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Certifications required: BLS (from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Must successfully pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during the first week of assignment; failing twice results in dismissal
