Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Pulmonary Med/Surg night shift role requiring Illinois RN licensure, Level 1 Trauma, and Epic charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital-based Cardiac/Pulmonary Med/Surg unit
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week
• Patient population includes acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
• EPIC is the EMR used and prior experience is required
• Manage care for cardiac and pulmonary patients, including assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluations
• Administer medications, prepare for procedures, manage IV and blood administration, and monitor labs
• Responsible for patient education, discharge planning, and ensuring safe patient transitions
• Participate in team huddles and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Provide feedback, delegate appropriately, and ensure high standards of basic patient care
• Professional communication and conflict management required
• Must document all patient care actions in Epic EMR
• Time off requests (RTO) limited to seven days per 13-week contract
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment
• Returning employees may not work more than one year continuously and must complete a six-month break before returning

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license (IL RN) in good standing; temporary licenses accepted
• Minimum of one year of relevant Med/Surg nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Proven experience working in a Level 1 Trauma setting
• Previous experience with cardiac or telemetry patients
• Epic charting experience required
• Associate degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no locals)
