This position works out of our Plano, TX location in the Neuromodulation Division. Our Neuromodulation business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum.

The Systems Engineer I is responsible for bringing together the component subsystems into one system and ensuring that the subsystems (hardware, software, firmware, etc.) function together as a system. Writes and executes integration/characterization test cases and verification and validation protocols and writes data summaries for complex system related (i.e., hardware, software, etc.). Applies quantitative methods, analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions. Performs troubleshooting to identify and confirm causes behind multiple system functions (i.e., hardware and software, etc.) issues, discrepancies, problems or complaints in accordance with governing procedures. Receives general direction and provides inputs and basic understanding for assignments. Ensures end-to-end traceability of functionality and product performance requirements. Works closely with Systems Engineers (Hardware and Software) to evaluate system performance (requirements), identify potential impact, and plan appropriate integration testing. Ensures test documentation meets all safety and regulatory compliance. Candidate may be required to work lab test shifts outside of the normal business hours.

What You'll Work On:

• Participate in system, software, hardware design reviews and test planning reviews to support assessment of performance against design specification; reliability testing, and assessment of system interactions.

• Define appropriate test plans and test methods considering potential impact to user needs and system requirements.

• Write and execute integration/characterization test cases and verification and validation protocols and writes data summaries and reports for complex systems.

• Apply defined quantitative methods, analyze data, evaluate results, form conclusions and provide improvements.

• Implement improvements; provide input into project deliverables and timelines.

• Assist in troubleshooting issues to determine root cause and proposing possible solutions. Investigate moderately complex issues at system level (hardware, assay, software interaction)

• Apply process and work methodologies by interfacing and communicating system level issues with peers/cross-functional groups.

• Collaborate with various organizations/disciplines (e.g., software, hardware, test, operations, manufacturing) to ensure system performance and customer expectations are met.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited college or university.

• Knowledge of Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline.

• Knowledge of Good Lab Practice and/or Good Manufacturing Practice with the ability to apply them to assigned task or activity.

• Knowledge of root cause analysis. Knowledge of data analysis.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to perform cross-functional teamwork and decision making.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Biomedical engineering.

• Ability to work independently.

• Experience with executing integration test plans for complex systems.

• Hands on test experience in laboratory environment.

• Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.

• Prior medical device experience: electro-mechanical, chemical, or biochemical technologies as they pertain to the design, integration, evaluation and commercialization of diagnostic systems.

• Experience with root cause analysis.

• Experience with statistical data analysis.

• Knowledge of external regulations and standards affecting Medical Devices and Biologics.

• Experience in a highly regulated environment.

The base pay for this position is $50,000.00 $100,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
