Surgical Technologist with Sign-On Bonus

Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Department: Operating Room

Hours Per Week: 40 hours

Schedule: 10 hour shifts Monday-Friday; 7a-5:30p or 9a-7:30p

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,500

SUMMARY:

Join our dedicated surgical team as an OR Surgical Technologist! In this pivotal role, you will assist in ensuring smooth and successful surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include managing instruments, supplies, and essential equipment while maintaining sterilization throughout the process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete a minimum of 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) annually.
• Check and prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment for all surgical procedures.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field for operations and assist with patient draping.
• Apply principles of aseptic techniques to safeguard the sterile field and identify any breaches.
• Pass instruments and materials efficiently to the surgical team.
• Conduct counts of sponges and sharps with the RN before surgery and prior to closing the incision.
• Prepare the sterile dressing for the patient's incision post-procedure.
• Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and manage medications, sharps, and syringes as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of a military surgical technology program, or
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTS) along with a degree in Surgical Technology, or other qualifying criteria outlined in the hard-to-fill clause.
• Certification must be obtained within 24 months of employment.
• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) may apply without certification if they hold a current New York State license.

NEW GRADUATES:

• Official transcripts or a confirmation letter from the registrar’s office upon graduation will be accepted.
• Education verification is required within 90 days of starting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires medium work, involving the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. Frequent walking, standing, or squatting is also required.

PAY RANGE: $27.50 - $33.50

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, specialty, and internal equity. It may be adjusted in the future and could include additional pay components.
