Surgical Technologist - Operating Room Assistant

Salary Range: $47,921.64 - $71,882.46

Hourly Range: $24.00/hr. - $31.66/hr.

As a valued member of the surgical team, the Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring optimal surgical care for patients. Working under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon, you will help create a safe operating room environment, ensuring all equipment is functional and patient safety is prioritized.

In this role, you will be responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures, while also anticipating the needs of the surgical team. Vigilance in maintaining the sterile field is crucial, and the Surgical Technologist will be expected to independently manage the scrub role, as well as circulate under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed.
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening and ensure the sterility of instruments and supplies.
• Conduct accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST) or NYS LPN acceptable.
• 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with various specialty services preferred.
