Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in preparing and caring for patients before surgery. You'll ensure patient readiness and maintain a sterile environment to support surgical teams in delivering exceptional care. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients, transporting them to and from the Operating Room, and setting up surgical instruments in accordance with established standards.

Responsibilities:

• Meet OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist nursing staff in delivering direct patient care before and during surgical procedures.
• Preferably proficient in scrubbing for multiple specialties including Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, and more.
• Maintain a sterile field, pass instruments, and assist the physician during surgeries.
• Utilize physician preference cards for efficient set-up and ensure they are kept up to date.
• Foster effective teamwork in patient care and surgical planning.
• Implement aseptic practices to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.
• Demonstrate expertise in handling surgical supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for safety during all patient interactions.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment according to policies and procedures.
• Understand decontamination, processing, and sterilization protocols for all surgical instruments.
• Adapt care methods to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program.

Experience

• 2 or more years of experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License is required.
