Surgical Technologists play a crucial role in providing exceptional surgical care to patients. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) and a surgeon, you will ensure a safe operating room environment, maintain equipment functionality, and uphold patient safety standards.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will handle the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. You will understand the procedures and anticipate the surgeon’s needs, while diligently maintaining the sterile field. You will have the ability to work independently in the scrub role and support the RN as a circulator. This position may require on-call duties and rotating shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure
- Prepare operating rooms and assist with proper patient positioning
- Inspect sterile items for contamination prior to use and ensure sterility of instruments and supplies
- Conduct accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, following established protocols
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST)
- NYS LPN also acceptable
- 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred
- Familiarity with all specialty services preferred
