Job specification

Oversee the daily operations of the surgical services department, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
Recruit, train, and manage a team of nurses and support staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and department performance.
Ensure high standards of care are always maintained. Handle escalated patient issues and provide direct care when necessary.
Manage the department's budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
Ensure the surgical services department complies with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Work closely with other departments, physicians, and hospital leadership to coordinate patient care and improve overall hospital operations.

Candidate requirements

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; master's degree preferred.

Current Virginia State Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in surgical services.

Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) and Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage high-stress situations and make critical decisions.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
