Position Summary

The GI/GU Disease Team at Translational Development seeks a talented and highly motivated student interested in a summer internship that offers hands-on translational research experience in a team-oriented, fast paced environment. The student, working closely with a Mentor, Bioinformaticians and Asset leads, will be assigned an exciting translational project to understand how epigenetic biomarkers from the translational Colorectal Cancer datasets help understand therapeutic mechanisms of action & resistance and biology of disease to inform clinical development. During the 10-week internship, the student will contribute to the Methylome Landscape project in colorectal cancer (CRC), analyzing methylation changes in MSS-CRC tumors across various clinical stages, therapeutic contexts, and platforms, including tumor bulk and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). During this time, the student will develop critical thinking and presentation skills and learn more about translational development and CRC biology. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have enthusiasm for working with complex data sets and for learning how biomarkers inform clinical development.

The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to experimental design and execution of a translational project, which is aligned with GI/GU Disease Team, Translational Development

  • Participating in BMS student internship requirements

  • Literature/data review to understand project context, impact and timely communication of data

  • Present internship project to the Translational Development group at the conclusion of the internship

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current student majoring in field related to biomedical sciences (cancer biology, cellular immunology, molecular oncology, genomics)

  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the willingness and ability to foster working relationships with a range of stakeholders and work independently. Flexible to changing priorities.

  • Prior experience in analyzing genomic and epigenomic data (WGS/WES, Methylome, Transcriptome and familiar with ctDNA) is preferred.

  • Available full time (40hrs/week) throughout the internship period (early June through mid-August).

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.

Compensation Overview:

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
