Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Board Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (Chief) to provide services for the VA Pittsburgh Health Care System, in Pittsburgh PA.

Qualifications

• Board certification and maintain acceptable Maintenance of Certification status in a branch of medical physics
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience within the preceding seven years
• In-depth knowledge and experience with various radiation therapy techniques, treatment planning systems, and quality assurance procedures

Clinical Duties:

• Assist the Radiation Oncologist in ultrasound-guided prostate volume study procedures; IMRT marker seed placement, LDR and HDR prostate brachytherapy, pre/post implant CT analysis and dosimetry
• Ensure that brachytherapy equipment functions properly
• Order the specified seed and activity prescribed by the VA Radiation Oncologist
• Oversee all physics and dosimetry operations
• Be on-site at least 50% of the time per week during clinical hours
• Provide quarterly Quality Assurance reports
• Track, evaluate, and document all equipment-related quality assurance data
• Provide shielding surveys and reports
• Ensure licenses are current for radioactive sources
• Ensure licenses for users of all software applications
• Ensure continuity of medical physics operations
• Be available for consultation with the Radiation Oncologist
• Observe and/or help supervise complicated simulations and/or treatment set-ups
• Be present at the machine during patient setup for SBRT/SRS and IGRT
• Be present all the times during HDR brachytherapy
