Job Summary:
This position is responsible for posting all payments manually and electronically. They must verify that the information that they are posting is correct and balances with our cash totals for the day. They must ensure that there are not errors in the posting and that issues are resolved timely. They must work with other departments to resolve any inquiries into the information received. The Receivables Specialist will also assist with other clerical functions in Patient Accounts.

Job Description:

• Review paper EOBs and manually post payments and reason codes as detailed in the remit. Note payment transfers accordingly.
• Process electronic files and review for errors or external payments. Correct errors in EPIC and note the external payments.
• Note all payments documented in EOB or ERA for external facilities, interest, medical records, etc. and ensure that it balances with the total check payment.
• Use knowledge of EPIC, Revlink, and OneSource systems to post payments accurately to each individual patient account.
• Post zero pay batches, payments from Physician offices.
• Review accounts sent by staff in other departments as needed
• Work with the Accounting department on issues with payments as they arise
• Responsible for research and follow up on payments added to clearing account pending payment information. Including calling insurance as needed.
• Work WQs created to capture accounts where the payment did not post to the account correctly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• High School Degree

Specialized Knowledge:

• Terminology and payment mechanisms by Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care payers

Kind and Length of Experience:

• One year of health care business office experience.
