Speech-Language Pathologist

The speech-language pathologist is responsible for evaluating each patient (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) assigned to them, determine short-term and long-term goals in conjunction with the patient and other team members when appropriate, develop and implement a comprehensive treatment program to meet these goals with direct supervision as needed for new graduates, and perform these tasks in a timely, effective manner that corresponds to the productivity standards for the department. Additional responsibilities will include administrative assignments as assigned. Speech-Language Pathologists will adhere to all state and federal regulations that apply to the practice of speech-language pathology.

Required:

Education and License Requirements for Home Health:

Speech-language pathologist. A person who has a masters or doctoral degree in speech language pathology, and who meets either of the following requirements: (1) Is licensed as a speech-language pathologist by the state in which the individual furnishes such services; or (2) In the case of an individual who furnishes services in a state which does not license speech-language pathologists: (i) Has successfully completed 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum (or is in the process of accumulating supervised clinical experience); (ii) Performed not less than 9 months of supervised full-time speech-language pathology services after obtaining a masters or doctoral degree in speech language pathology or a related field; and (iii) Successfully completed a national examination in speech-language pathology approved by the Secretary.

Experience Preferred:

• Two years of clinical experience is preferred, but not required.

License Requirements:

• Licensure in the State of Virginia, and Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
• Virginia Drivers License.
