Essential Functions

1. Assists in developing training materials and provides training within scope of practice.
2. Plans and develops course or training program content for appropriate area. Evaluates the effectiveness of training and makes modifications to course materials and simulation programming.
3. Programs and operates simulation equipment as a method of teaching.
4. Troubleshoots and maintains simulation equipment.
5. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the health care team, departments, divisions and other agencies to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
6. Participates in department, hospital, and system-wide committees as member or consultant. (8%)
7. Utilizes quality improvement, research studies, and national best practice guidelines in order to design/evaluate practice processes, systems, tools, and resources.
8. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
9. Instructs and/or coordinates AHA BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification courses.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in health care related field
• 3 years of health care related experience
• CRT - Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - AHA American Heart Association within 180 days after hire
• CRT - Adv Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor (ACLS INSTR) - AHA American Heart Association within 180 days after hire
• CRT - Pediatric Adv Life Support Instructor (PALS INSTR) - AHA American Heart Association within 180 days after hire

Preferred

• 2 years of relevant experience in the field of simulation
• LIC-Paramedic License - State of Michigan
• One or more of the following:

• CRT-Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA American Health Information Management Association
• CRT-Lactation Peer Counselor - ALPP Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice
• CRT-Professional Coder, Certified - Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H)
• CRT-Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AAPC American Academy of Professional Coders
• CRT-Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA American Health Information Management Association
