Leidos is currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented problem-solver to join us as a Senior Systems Engineering Lead. In this pivotal role within our Hypersonics Division, you will lead a talented team of systems engineers focused on software and hardware development, testing, and integration for complex hypersonic systems like glide bodies, missiles, and cruisers. The ideal candidate will apply classical systems engineering, digital engineering, and model-based system engineering practices using tools like CAMEO to identify challenges and develop effective solutions within intricate, interconnected systems.

As the Senior Systems Engineering Lead, you will coordinate prototype development and as-built configurations while implementing the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) processes. This includes defining requirements, managing updates, executing change requests, and overseeing verification planning and acceptance testing. You will ensure that our engineering practices align with industry standards and support streamlined workflows. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of systems engineering, including design, requirements management, risk assessment, validation, and testing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage system requirements, applying and updating specifications and test plans.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of overall system interdependencies and interfaces.
• Engage in system-level requirements and interface requirement development.
• Oversee subsystem/system integration and testing for validation closure methods.
• Support the verification and traceability of deliverables back to system requirements.
• Assist in creating verification plans and suggesting process improvements.
• Facilitate configuration management of technical data packages.
• Implement innovative solutions to meet program requirements effectively.
• Identify, mitigate and resolve risks/issues/opportunities as they arise.
• Coordinate systems engineering efforts with the customer.
• Experience with software requirements, test procedures, analysis, and verification methods.
• Derive requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Utilize DOORS or related requirements database tools.
• Employ MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Cameo, or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools.
• Demonstrate experience in MBSE implementation and execution.
• Maintain organizational skills for documentation and teamwork to ensure seamless information flow.
• Perform various other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university, along with 12+ years of pertinent experience.
• A self-starter with outstanding communication and organizational skills.
• Extensive experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address complex technical challenges.
• A strong technical background in large, integrated products.
• Direct experience working with customers and suppliers to define and manage engineering requirements.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in DoD Missile, Reentry Vehicle, or Hypersonics fields.
• A solid comprehension of the top-down systems engineering process and bottom-up verification.
• In-depth knowledge of DoD acquisition processes and methodologies.
• Familiarity with Function Flow and N-Squared Analysis.
• Adept at maintaining focus and thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to document work effectively and facilitate communication among team members.
• Demonstrated understanding of the functionality and interdependencies within hypersonic systems.
• Experience working with customers to clarify challenges and requirements.
• Robust understanding of the intricacies of complex physical systems.
• Experience applying systems engineering practices in support of hypersonic initiatives with unique developmental constraints.

Pay Range: $126,100.00 - $227,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and does not guarantee compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity, alignment with market data, and applicable bargaining agreements.
