As a Senior Search Engineer, you will play a critical role in enhancing the search experience across our digital platforms. You will leverage your expertise in search technologies, machine learning, and data analysis to improve the relevance, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of our search solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement advanced search solutions: Lead the development and optimization of search algorithms and systems utilizing technologies such as Elastic/OpenSearch/Solr.

Fine-tune search relevance: Apply machine learning techniques, including classification and ranking models, to significantly improve the relevance of search results.

Integrate with modern architectures: Leverage experience with Kubernetes, Elastic/Solr/OpenSearch and Kafka to build scalable and resilient search infrastructure.

Explore and implement cutting-edge technologies: Contribute to the exploration and integration of Agentic Solutions, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance search capabilities.
n
n
Analyze search data: Perform in-depth analysis of search queries, user behavior, and search performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and inform optimization strategies.
n

Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand search requirements, develop solutions, and deliver impactful results.
n

Develop and evaluate analytical models: Utilize strong knowledge of algorithms and predictive models to investigate search-related problems, detect patterns, and recommend data-driven solutions.

Utilize programming skills: Leverage strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, and/or Java to explore, examine, and interpret large volumes of search data.

Communicate technical concepts: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and implications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
n

Required Qualifications

n
5+ years of relevant experience in search engineering, information retrieval, or related field.
n
n
3+ years of experience programming using Python or Java/Kotlin.
n
n
3+ years experience with Elastic, OpenSearch, Solr or any other open source search engines.
n
n
3+ years of experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
n

Preferred Qualifications

n
Demonstrated strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners.
n
n
Proactive in anticipating and preventing problems and roadblocks.
n
n
Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages for analyzing large datasets from multiple sources.
n
n
Proficiency in mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling, with a strong focus on search-specific applications.
n
n
Experience with and a strong understanding of Search Technologies, Distributed Systems.
n
n
Experience with Kubernetes for deploying and managing search infrastructure.
n
n
Master's Degree or PhD
n

Education

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $222,480.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
