The Senior Scientist within the Biologics Development is expected to have a higher-level understanding of cell culture, instrumentation, and process development either through direct experience or education level. The Upstream group's purpose is the development and optimization of upstream processes for production of biologics at different clinical stages. The Sr Scientist will work closely with colleagues in upstream, downstream, and analytical development as well as other matrix organizations to deliver robust, scalable, and economical processes for clinical and commercial supply.
Responsibilities:
- Advancement to Senior Scientist based on level of mastery and experience in laboratory operations, scientific/engineering accomplishment, and level of self-reliance within position.
- Capability to conceptualize and lead bench-scale experiments using bioreactor, high-throughput, or shake flask cell culture systems to improve cell culture processes.
- Organize or lead experiments developing processes for BMS molecules.
- Clearly interpret, organize, and present findings from the above experiments to functional and cross-functional leadership.
- Work effectively as part of a process development team.
- Be able to work independently when needed to accomplish overall project goals.
- Write and review internal technical documents, such as development reports or technology transfer protocols.
- Demonstrate potential for growth into a technical leader both internally as well as in the scientific community.
- Review the peer-reviewed scientific literature and make recommendations for new technologies or areas of investigation.
- Contribute to the scientific community through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and webinars.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological or Chemical Sciences/Engineering or related disciplines.
- Masters is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in a professional industry setting or multiple years of experience in an academic laboratory setting.

Compensation Overview: New Brunswick - NJ - US: $112,840 - $136,733
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
