Pay: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Summary:
Join our dedicated team at UCHealth as a Senior Ophthalmic Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care in our Cornea service line. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist our providers in clinical and procedural settings.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care in both clinic and procedure rooms under direct supervision.
• Schedule appointments and follow-up visits for Cornea patients efficiently.
• Perform documentation, patient education, and enter charges accurately.
• Orient, train, and mentor students, staff, and residents.
• Serve as a resource to staff and a liaison within the ophthalmology department.
• Assist with prescription refills in collaboration with providers.
• Ensure proper care and use of medical instruments.
• Support minor procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Review schedules for assignments, reporting any discrepancies.
• Carry out clinical and procedural assignments as delegated by supervisors.
• Facilitate efficient communication between the Cornea clinic and other departments, as well as with outside referring physicians.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in core ophthalmic competencies and assist in minor procedures effectively.

Requirements:

• Education: High School diploma or GED; completion of UCHealth preceptor course.
• Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is also required.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: Over 3 years working with a Cornea specialist, assisting in refractive cases, minor cornea procedures, educating patients about IOL choices, and experience with crosslinking cases.
