nnThe Consolidated Operations Maintenance Engineering and Test (COMET) contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
nnThe Safety Engineer will perform a variety of safety operations tasks in support of the COMET contract at Kennedy Space Center. The Safety Engineer will coordinate and conduct site safety and health assessments and reviews pertaining to programs, ground support equipment, facilities, and operations. They will support hazardous operations at KSC facilities including but not limited to cryogenic, hypergolic, explosive, high pressure, toxic, working at heights, and asphyxiant hazards. Specific tasks include monitoring operations and testing from the firing room in support of EGS and ISS ground operations.
n nResponsibilities
nThe position supports various COMET sites at KSC. Site Safety responsibilities include:
n- Interprets federal, NASA and JSOG safety requirements and regulations, as they apply to COMET operations, and implements policies and procedures to ensure that these operations are in compliance.n- Interacts with customers to resolve safety health and environmental issues.n- Review and approve Work Authorization Documents.n- Provides oversight of compliance with safety health and environmental requirements and company policy.n- Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Share Point.n- Excellent problem solving, written and verbal communications and customer interface skills.n- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.n- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy.n- Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision.n- Must be able to work off-shift, weekends and overtime.n- Other duties as assigned.Recently Posted Jobs
