Surgery Supervisor

VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Surgery Supervisor to lead our surgical team in delivering exceptional patient care.

Compensation: $27 - $28 / hr

Location: 9801 Old Winery Pl, Sacramento, CA 95827

This leadership role is ideal for a licensed veterinary technician with a strong background in surgery and team management. The Surgery Supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensure clinical excellence, and foster a collaborative and compassionate work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership

• Supervise and coordinate the daily workflow of the surgery department.
• Manage scheduling for procedures, staff shifts, lunches, and overtime.
• Ensure compliance with VCA policies and protocols.

Clinical Oversight

• Perform and oversee tasks such as anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, radiographs, and surgical assistance.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
• Support advanced surgical procedures and emergency cases.

Team Development

• Train, mentor, and evaluate surgical team members.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture.
• Lead by example with professionalism, empathy, and integrity.

Communication & Collaboration

• Maintain respectful and effective communication with doctors, clients, and staff.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to address concerns and improve operations.
• Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members.

Qualifications

Licensed Veterinary Technician (RVT or equivalent)

Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a veterinary surgical setting

Strong clinical skills in anesthesia, surgical prep, and patient monitoring

Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.

Ability to lead with compassion and motivate others

Comfortable working 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week, including occasional weekends
