Revenue Accounting Consultant

As a Revenue Accounting Consultant, you will review and analyze complex customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606. You will participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting close activities, including commissions accounting and deliverables such as reconciliations, revenue dashboards, reporting, revenue reserves, and variance analysis. You will also play a key role in partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue forecasting and reporting, as well as preparing revenue-related reports for financial statement disclosures.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting close activities, including commissions accounting and deliverables like reconciliations, revenue dashboards, and reporting.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue forecasting and reporting.
• Prepare revenue-related reports for financial statement disclosures.
• Lead or support the implementation and migration of revenue accounting systems.
• Collaborate to define systems requirements and ensure alignment with accounting policies.
• Perform systems testing, validation, and user training for new implementations or enhancements.
• Interface with internal and external audit on revenue-related issues, support US GAAP audits, and maintain SOX control documentation.

Essential Skills

• Experience in revenue recognition, month-end, revenue cycle management, and revenue analysis.
• Experience in revenue recognition at small to mid-sized companies, particularly in the SaaS industry.
• Experience working through a revenue recognition tool implementation.
• Proficiency in Global Revenue Recognition.
• Experience with NetSuite ERP & NetSuite ARM.
• 3-5 years of experience in a revenue accounting role in the SaaS technology or subscription-based industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
• High proficiency using the NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management module in multi-currencies and multi-subsidiaries environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Public accounting experience preferred and CPA a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience in Power BI, Salesforce CRM, and RevPro is a plus.
• System Implementation and UAT experience (NetSuite, RevPro) preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position at a software platform company that started in 2009, which combines customer service, marketing, and orders in one place. The company has experienced rapid growth, necessitating significant system updates. The current revenue team consists of 10 employees, working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ever-changing environment.

This is a contract position based out of New York, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $95.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
