Radiology Technologist Assistant

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of clerical, technical, and patient related duties according to established protocols. The Radiology Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting members of the Radiology team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams/procedures and patient transporting. May be assigned to work in a variety of imaging sections, assist multiple radiology modalities and/or clinical services per operational needs. Performs related duties as required.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist patients and staff in Radiology Imaging Departments.
• Explain examination procedures to patients, help prepare them for the exam and review any screening forms associated with the exam.
• Assist Radiology/Imaging Team with Electronic Health Record data entry.
• Prepare procedure room and work areas to ensure stock is replenished (linen and related supplies) and the area is kept neat and clean.
• Perform clerical duties to include answering telephones, patient scheduling, RIS functions.
• Transport and escort patients to and from Radiology, both in hospital and ambulatory settings

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Medical knowledge and terminology preferred.
• One (1) year clinical experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification required upon hire or during orientation to department.
