Supervises Buying All Products Encompassing Commodities, Expenses and Consumable Items

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Involved in the manufacturing and/or distribution negotiation process.
• Evaluates vendors for credit worthiness and cost.
• Provides valuation and inventory turn data to upper management.
• Predicts commodity markets and recommends purchasing strategies.
• Builds purchasing agreements with timelines and expected usage.
• Manages inventory levels.
• Works closely with sales to ensure products are available on time and accurately meet demand.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required;
• Four (4) years of purchasing experience; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competencies

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, and other employees of the organization.
• Requires advanced math abilities.
• Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Excellent working knowledge MS Word and Excel.

Work Environment / Physical Activity

• Work is in an office setting and generally sedentary with physical effort associated with using a computer, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
• May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional travel may be required.
