Phlebotomist - Bilingual - Bronx

We are seeking a bilingual Phlebotomist with over two years of recent professional experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from the first day. Strong communication skills, reliability, and punctuality are essential, and candidates must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate and update patient information regularly.
• Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and label them accurately.
• Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

Essential Skills

• Over two years of recent professional phlebotomy experience.
• Proficiency with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently.
• Strong communication skills and bilingual in English and Spanish.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of one year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment

This role is based at a Patient Service Center in the Bronx, where you will perform 30-50 blood draws per day. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and every other Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
