The inpatient pharmacy technician supports pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records.

A caregiver in this position works days/evenings from 3:00PM11:30PM and 11:00AM7:30PM, with rotating weekend availability.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding, and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training.
• Use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) upon or within 18 months of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• Six months of hospital experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching, and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
