As a Pharmacy Department Manager, this position will be responsible for the overall operation within assigned pharmacy department. Directly responsible for the improvement of prescription count as well as patient count by promoting exceptional customer service and professional image within the community. Focus will also include improvement of profitability by practicing/implementing cost effective business practices, i.e. generic dispensing, drug purchasing, etc. Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Reporting relations include accountability and reporting to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations and Perishables. Positions that report to you include Staff Pharmacist(s), Pharmacy Technician(s), Pharmacy Intake/Outbound Coordinator.

Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, supervising the operation of the assigned pharmacy department, improving pharmacy prescription sales, profit, patient count and professional image, supervising pharmacy staff, managing all referrals, recommending plans and coordinating sales and promotional programs, managing recruitment and hiring of pharmacy personnel, analyzing and recommending loss prevention procedures, conducting regular inventories, overseeing training of pharmacy staff, ensuring established workflow, monitoring competition services, reviewing pharmacy department policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing and submitting records and reports, recommending improved pharmacy department maintenance procedures, resolving customer complaints, representing the company through membership and active participation in pharmaceutical professional groups, determining pricing of product to ensure profitability, building growth and sales through counseling customers, and reporting to work when scheduled.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include overseeing nursing home accounts, assisting in other areas of store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include ability to communicate effectively, excellent interpersonal skills, and in depth knowledge of pharmacy computer applications.

Education and experience include graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School, current Board of Pharmacy license, progressively responsible experience in pharmacy and computer applications, and over one year of related work experience.

Supervisory responsibilities include instructing, reviewing work, assigning work, planning work of others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, and has the authority to recommend the transfer/promotion of employees and the disciplining, discharges, and salary increases of employees.

Working conditions involve normal office or clinic environment, frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking, and use of PC with pharmacy software, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.

Contacts include daily contact with general public, suppliers and vendors, occasional contact with community or trade/professional organizations and federal/state/city government or regulatory agencies and Pharmacy Operations team.
