Job Summary

This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients.

Experience and Education

• Required Education: Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program (Texas BON 217.1)

• Language Requirement: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience

• Licenses and Certifications:

  • (NLC) Nursing Licensure Compact current Texas or Compact State license (upon hire)

  • (BLS) Basic Life Support accredited by AHA or ARC (upon hire)

  • Specialty areas may require additional experience or certifications

• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Preferred Certification: Professional Certification in a Nursing Organization

Job Duties

• Perform and document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments

• Develop and implement patient care plans using critical thinking

• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team

• Prioritize and respond to changes in patient condition

• Involve patients and families in care planning and education

• Evaluate and modify care plans based on patient response

• Adhere to hospital policies and nationally accepted nursing standards

• Provide education and discharge planning

• Demonstrate effective communication based on patient needs and learning preferences

• Participate in performance improvement and safety initiatives

• Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues

• Perform peer evaluations and hold team members accountable

• Advocate for patient safety and unit initiatives

• Participate in budget-related decisions and committees

• Participate in meetings, committees, and community outreach

• Perform other duties as assigned
