Ophthalmic Specialist

Location: UCHealth Colorado Center, US:CO:Denver

Position: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period (2 weeks), Days

Compensation: $24.11 - $36.17 / hour, based on relevant experience

Position Overview:

As an Ophthalmic Specialist, you will play a key role in assisting eye care providers with patient care and clinical activities. Your contributions will ensure the proper usage of medical instruments and enhance the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care under the supervision of an eye care provider, demonstrating proficiency in core ophthalmic competencies.
• Conduct basic ophthalmic testing procedures, perform diagnostic testing, administer medications, and execute tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
• Support minor procedures and manage the prescription refill process as directed by the provider.
• Document patient information, educate patients, and assist with charge entry to streamline patient care.
• Employ critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment, working with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT). National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) is required if working as a contact lens technician.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification; must be current and valid before your start date.
• Minimum of 2 years of sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or relevant internship experience.
