Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Scribe to join our team. In this role, you will document physician visits in the EMR system and scribe for multiple physicians. You will handle some instruments as required by the physicians and perform patient work-ups post doctor visits. Effective communication with patients based on the documented plan provided by the doctor is crucial.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

• Experience in medical assisting.

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• Proficiency in EMR systems.

• Scribing experience in a healthcare setting.

• 1+ years of on-site scribing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred ophthalmic experience.

• Bilingual in Spanish is a nice-to-have.

• Ability to multitask.

• Experience in high-volume patient care environments.

• Driven and upbeat personality.

Work Environment

Work is scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM, with variations based on clinic needs. Training will occur at the admin building in the Galleria. The role involves working with a team of 8-24 individuals, with each physician requiring 8 clinic staff. The primary location is the Lufkin/Livingston clinic, with occasional support needed at Kingwood and Woodlands clinics. Employees are tied to three clinics and will receive schedules two weeks in advance. Fast-paced environment with 80-100 patients a day. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs, short and groomed nails, and hair must be tied back. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel outside the three primary clinics.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lufkin, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.00/hr.
