Principal Accountabilities

• The Operations Training Specialist is essential in promoting workplace safety and supporting the onboarding of new hires.
• Key responsibilities include conducting daily safety inspections, aiding emergency evacuations, leading safety tours and meetings, and engaging in programs like Behavioral Based Safety (BBS), LIFE Savers, and Near Miss reporting.
• The Specialist will also oversee forklift certification, ergonomics assessments, Lock Out/Tag Out audits, and monthly EHS inspections. In addition, they will support new hire orientation by providing plant tours, conducting orientation sessions, and facilitating roundtables at 15, 30, and 45-day intervals.
• They will ensure new hires receive comprehensive job training, complete required documentation, and collaborate with supervisors and health services to establish work conditioning goals. Regular feedback regarding training progress and job training plans (JTPs) will be communicated to supervisors.

Required Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Computer skills are a plus; however, candidates must be willing to learn documentation, filing, and computer skills if not already proficient.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with training participants, supervision, and management are essential.
• Must undergo Annual Training in Hazard Recognition/Awareness to complete daily PPE surveys and weekly department safety checklists.
• Completion of annual Fire Extinguisher Training is required.
• Bloodborne Pathogens Training is necessary.
• Basic First Aid and CPR Training may be required as deemed necessary.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts (1st and 2nd) may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish (read/write) is a plus.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership role is preferred.
