The Night Observation Unit Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. Minimum 1 year experience as an APP in the acute setting preferred. Care for admitted patients as well as ED admissions.

Responsibilities include performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments; ordering, performing, and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures; managing general medical and surgical conditions; prescribing medication safely and effectively; promoting Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APN practice recognition; providing patient- and family-centered care; adhering to HMH nursing protocols, standards of care, and disease-specific quality indicators; applying evidence-based and value-based medicine; evaluating patient/family transition of care planning; demonstrating clinical expertise; participating in annual APN peer review; translating best practice into clinical practice; providing culturally sensitive and educationally appropriate health management education; facilitating consistent, coordinated care; serving as an advocate; participating in clinical research; and adhering to the legal framework and scope of practice defined by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.

Qualifications required include a graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program, a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice, experience in a relevant patient care setting, national provider identifier (NPI), prescriptive authority, collaborative agreement with physicians, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient computer skills. Preferred qualifications include advanced cardiac life support certification.

Compensation is a minimum of $133,922.88 annually. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of the market-competitive total rewards package.
