Nurse Practitioner Clinical Research

Monday through Friday schedule, no weekends, holidays or on call. Clinical trials are run across all therapeutic areas. Inpatient and Outpatient. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs.

Responsibilities include performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments appropriate for the patient's age, gender, and clinical problem; ordering, performing, and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures in collaboration with physicians and consultants as appropriate; managing general medical and surgical conditions based on comprehensive knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and the indications and contraindications of pharmacologic agents and other treatment modalities; prescribing medication safely and effectively in accordance with best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations, providing patient education as needed; seeking opportunities to promote Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APN practice recognition (locally, nationally, and internationally) through conferences, publications, and presentations; providing care that is patient- and family-centered, compassionate, and effective for the promotion of health and treatment of disease; practicing as a healthcare provider according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and bylaws as outlined in the delineation of privileges; adhering to HMH nursing protocols, standards of care, and disease-specific quality indicators; and applying evidence-based and value-based medicine to systematically analyze and improve patient care practices and outcomes.

Qualifications include a graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program, a Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice, experience in a relevant patient care setting, a National Provider Identifier (NPI), prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law, a collaborative agreement with physicians on staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Licenses and certifications required include NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (w/ Master's Degree), BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification, and Board certified by AANP or ANCC. Licenses and certifications preferred include Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Compensation is a minimum rate of $145,974.40 annually. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
