Overview

Mass General Brigham’s Department of Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) seeks an APP to support the Spine Neurosurgery program. The department is a nationally acclaimed program with extensive clinical and research activities, and the right candidate will join a highly functional, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing patient-focused, world-class neurosurgical care.

Under the supervision of the APP Director and in accordance with Massachusetts APP practice regulations, the APP will provide care in the Neurosurgical Spine Center at MGH, including preoperative assessments, coordination of treatment, and postoperative care management.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and perform preoperative assessments; manage treatment plans; and assist in postoperative care.
Obtain patient histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate patients for surgery and post-surgical readmission.
Coordinate tests and consultations; implement treatment plans; and communicate with referring physicians.
Provide patient education and prepare patients for discharge.
Deliver direct patient care, counseling, and teaching across ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests; document thoroughly (admission, progress, procedure, operative, and discharge notes).
Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population and prescribe medications per policies and regulations.
Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education : Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
Licenses and Credentials : Registered Nurse (RN) state license preferred; Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) state license preferred.
Experience : NP clinical experience 0–1 year preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Ability to obtain medical histories, assess conditions, interpret findings, maintain quality standards, respond to emergencies, apply guidelines, and communicate clearly with patients and staff.
