Neurocritical Care App
Neuro Critical Care APP will be full time nights with onboarding during dayshift with current neuro critical care APP. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN / PA works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. The training schedule may alternate between (4) 10 hour day shifts and (5) 8 hour shifts for 6-8 weeks depending on skill level of the APP. After training is complete, expect schedule to switch to nights, preferably 4 (10 hours).
Responsibilities include performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures, managing general medical and surgical conditions, prescribing medication safely and effectively, promoting Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APN practice recognition, providing care that is patient- and family-centered, adhering to HMH nursing protocols, standards of care, and disease-specific quality indicators, applying evidence-based and value-based medicine, evaluating patient/family transition of care planning, demonstrating clinical expertise through advanced assessment and procedural skills, participating in annual APN peer review, translating best practice into clinical practice, providing culturally sensitive and educationally appropriate health management education to patients and families, facilitating consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team, serving as an advocate for patients and families, identifying and addressing clinical, process, and system improvement opportunities, participating in organizational and departmental meetings, committees, and workgroups as necessary, demonstrating the highest level of accountability for professional practice, collaborating with medical staff to support nursing-led protocols, mentoring other APNs, precepting students in APN programs and participating in educational programs for nursing as a clinical expert, identifying patient/family educational needs and collaborating to implement appropriate teaching materials, facilitating and participating in nursing educational programs as a clinical expert, promoting a collaborative work environment supporting the organizational mission, behavior expectations, values, and pillars, promoting innovation by integrating new clinical knowledge into practice, participating in clinical research activities and disseminating findings through practice, education, presentations, and publications, identifying ethical care issues and coordinating interdisciplinary meetings to resolve them, adhering to the legal framework and scope of practice defined by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, ensuring compliance with all applicable statutes and professional standards, complying with HMH and department-specific scope of services, policies and procedures as applicable to role, and adhering to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications include a graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program, a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice, experience in a relevant patient care setting, a national provider identifier, prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law, a collaborative agreement with physicians on staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms, NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (w/ Master's Degree), BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification, Board certified by AANP or ANCC, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Compensation: Minimum rate of $148,803.20 Annually. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization. Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
