Welder

As a welder, you will create strong and durable welds by striking an arc to melt and deposit metal from an electrode onto work pieces, joining their edges. You will manually guide the electrode or welding gun along the weld line, maintaining precision to form the desired depth and bead, judged by the color of the metal, sound of the weld, and the size of the molten puddle. Welding will be performed in various positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead. Your role will involve examining welds for bead size and specifications, applying filler rods, cleaning weld joints, repairing broken parts, and preparing surfaces for welding.

Responsibilities:

• Form arc to melt and deposit metal onto work pieces.
• Guide electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth and bead.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
• Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace.
• Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
• Tack assemblies together.

Essential Skills:

• Blueprint reading (preferred)
• 1+ years of MIG welding experience
• Basic understanding of welding fundamentals
• Experience with stainless, mild, or carbon steel
• Positive attendance history
• Experience in structural welding and using measuring tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Eagerness to learn
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• Open to overtime
• Availability for 1st shift

Work Environment:

The facility is medium-sized and relatively clean, though it is non-temperature controlled and can become very hot in the summer.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
