Job Summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate, resident-focused care and daily living assistance. Under the supervision of a charge nurse, you will help residents with their basic health care needs, including:

• Bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Obtaining and recording vital signs
• Supporting residents' psychological needs
• Assisting with mobility and exercises
• Facilitating a positive dining experience

You will also be responsible for:

• Administering prescribed medications as delegated and within your scope of practice
• Documenting residents' care and any changes in condition
• Helping maintain cleanliness in living areas
• Encouraging resident participation in wellness and recreational programs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum age of 18 preferred
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is a plus
• Must achieve yearly competency testing and maintain required certifications

Various state-specific certifications are required based on your location:

• Iowa: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Minnesota: Nursing assistant certification and completion of the Trained Medication Assistant course is necessary.
• North Dakota: Requires CNA certification along with Medication Assistant I or II certification.
• South Dakota: Successful completion of the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course is required.
