GENERAL SUMMARY:

n

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties may include but are not limited to:

  Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.

  n

• n

  Obtaining medical histories.

  n
n
• n

  The measurement and recording of vital signs.

  n
n
• n

  Preparing patients for an examination/procedure.

  n
n
• n

  Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.

  n
n

n

SHIFT DETAILS: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Mile Road Clinton Township, MI 48038

n

STATUS: Full Time, 40 hours per week

n

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

n

n
• n

  High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  n
n
• n

  Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.

  n
n
• n

  Ability to problem-solve preferred. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.

  n
n
• n

  EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.

  n
n
• n

  From the Hiring Manager: Completed an accredited Medical Assistant program. Has the ability to work in fast paced environment. Knowledge of Vaccines for Children program, able to perform basic diagnostic testing (i.e EKG, PFT, urinalysis, injections, lab draws). Has the ability to interact and work well with physicians, managers and coworkers. Possess good communication skills both oral and written, has ability to work with little supervision. Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

Additional Requirements:

n

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).

n

ORGraduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.

n

ORCurrent Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.

n

ORLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

n

ORLicensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

n

ORMilitary trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

n

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

n

Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
