The material flow engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the movement of parts within the factory. This includes determining the quantity of parts needed at each operation and the method of delivery using PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and lean manufacturing principles. The BOM, demand requirements, and engineering and model year changes must be taken into account. The material flow engineer will own the PFEP database and must collaborate effectively with other teams, such as manufacturing, packaging engineering, purchasing, planning, and operations, to ensure the accuracy of part data and the successful implementation of part changes. The material flow engineer will also work on the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and material handling with Automated Guided Carts (AGCs), focusing on improving efficiency. Working conditions are typical for a distribution and office setting. The job involves lifting materials and products weighing up to 40 pounds. Operating equipment requires specialized training and testing in accordance with Polaris' standards. Must be able to manage multiple demands at once.
The starting pay range for Minnesota is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain PFEP (Plan for Every Part) for assembly lines.
- Lead Value Stream Mapping events to identify and execute process improvement projects.
- Deploy and sustain material delivery systems using Automated Guided Carts (AGCs).
- Analyze and support the sustainability of the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Monitor and improve warehouse performance through data analysis and metrics.
- Establish and manage off-site warehouse operations for inventory storage and flow.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Packaging teams on new part packaging and updates.
- Support internal and external cycle count audits in coordination with Finance and auditors.
- Contribute to capital budgeting, long-range planning, and insourcing/outsourcing initiatives.
- Mentor Warehouse Process Technicians and actively participate in Kaizen events.
- Bachelor's Degree with a preferred emphasis in Engineering.
- 3+ years of material flow experience in a large-scale automated manufacturing environment, including budget and expense responsibility.
- Strong problem-solving skills with proven expertise in root cause analysis and delivering sustainable, metric-driven solutions.
- Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity in manufacturing environments.
- Effective communicator with a track record of conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and sustain long-term results.
- Results-oriented mindset with a continuous drive for improvement and goal achievement.
- Proficient in enterprise-level systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); experience with JDA/Blue Yonder WMS is preferred.
- Solid understanding of distribution operations, including logistics, fulfillment, and facilities management.
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills, with a passion for quality and operational excellence.
