Job Details
Indian River Hospital is looking to add a Respiratory Therapist Manager who will manage the daily operations of Cardiopulmonary Services. In this role, you will oversee inpatient respiratory, EKG and bronchology, assisting with staffing and regulatory compliances. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Manage operational aspects of the department of 30 plus FTE's.
- Direct and coordinate activities of supervisory and educational personnel.
- Orient, evaluate and terminate direct and indirect reports.
- Research and evaluate new technological developments and advances in clinical practice.
- Promote cost-effective policies and procedures while assuring optimal delivery of services.
- Develop operating and capital budgets and action plans that address financial/productivity variances.
- Assist with the development of departmental planning to include policies, procedures and protocols.
- Organize and participate in quality, engagement (employee satisfaction), patient, physician and other customer satisfaction processes.
- Develop action plans to improve metrics associated with the noted processes.
- Perform blood gas puncture and analysis, at sites where applicable.
- Meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations, if designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Five years of experience to include critical care, medical/surgical, emergency department, cardiology and neurology management/operational experience (additional experience may be substituted for educational requirement)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure in the state of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous leadership experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience navigating high acuity patient care situations in a large medical system.
- Demonstrated people leader experience in a critical care environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires frequent walking from department to department: requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 20 lb., such as files, documents and computer printouts.
- Work requires finger dexterity and eye hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department director, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
- Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
