Mammography Technologist - Competitive Hourly Rate

At Optum, we are looking for a dedicated Mammography Technologist to join our team. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $29 to $56, along with a generous $10,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates. As a Mammography Technologist, your primary responsibility will be to perform quality patient care and obtain mammographic images essential for accurate diagnostics by radiologists. You will also create a calming environment for patients, helping them feel comfortable throughout their examinations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify anatomical orientation on all required images, ensuring proper file identification.
• Perform all mammographic procedures with competency and operate related equipment.
• Greet patients, gather medical history, and enter information into the electronic medical records system.
• Obtain mammographic images following established guidelines.
• Maintain logs and process paperwork for biopsies.
• Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain cleanliness in examination rooms.
• Assist in completing the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR).
• Observe and record patient vital signs during examinations.
• Mentor new hires in best practices and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, radiologists, and medical staff.
• Flexibility to cover additional shifts or accommodate extended patient schedules as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certification in Mammography.
• Diagnostic Mammography certification or the ability to obtain it within 180 days.
• Experience with electronic medical records systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A degree in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine.
• At least one year of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR systems.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
• Eyesight correctable to 20/20 for operating equipment and reviewing films.
