Mammography Technician

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately identify anatomical orientation on images and ensure proper file identification.
• Execute all mammographic procedures competently and operate related equipment.
• Engage with patients, gather medical histories, and input data into the computer system.
• Acquire mammographic images following established guidelines.
• Maintain records and process necessary paperwork for biopsies.
• Practice sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
• Uphold HIPAA regulations and maintain quality standards.
• Oversee the clinical environment of the mammography suite, ensuring cleanliness and proper supply levels.
• Assist with accreditation processes for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years.
• Monitor patient vital signs during examinations.
• Provide coverage as needed to accommodate patient scheduling.
• Offer mentorship and training to new staff members.
• Ensure a positive patient experience by clearly communicating procedure details and follow-up requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, and their families.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) (M) certification.
• Diagnostic Mammography certification or willingness to obtain within 180 days.
• Experience with electronic medical records.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine.
• 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
• Experience with EPIC EMR.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and position them for equipment operation.
• Vision correctable to 20/20 for equipment operation and film review.
